  1. Changes since 1.3:

  3. 0. The signature is now officially registered (finally)! Unfortunately I got my
  4. third choice, which means the sig I was using on previous versions belongs to
  5. someone else. You should probably deleted all earlier versions of MailConverter,
  6. to be safe.
  7.  
  8. 1. The two primary commands have been renamed:
  9.  
  10.     Open Mailbox   ==> Convert File (the command key is now C)
  11.     Open Directory ==> Convert Folder
  12.     
  13. 2. The Append Mailbox command is gone altogether. Instead of this special 
  14. command, you will now be asked if you want to append or overwrite if you 
  15. select an existing mailbox for output.

  17. 3. There's one new command, Merge Folder. This will convert each file in 
  18. the folder and write the merged results into a single output mailbox. 
  19. NB: when you drag a folder onto the MailConverter icon, you will now
  20. be activating the Merge Folder command. Merge Folder is recursive - if
  21. it encounters a subfolder, the contents of that subfolder will be merged
  22. into the final destination mailbox.

  24. 4. Convert Folder is also recursive but in a slightly different way: if it
  25. encounters a subfolder, that subfolder will be handled with Merge Folder.
  26. These only seems special but in fact, the rule is simple: each subitem encountered
  27. by Convert Folder, whether that item is a file or a folder, will generate one
  28. mailbox.

  30. 5. One setting, Confirm On Overwrite, is now meaningless and has been removed.

  32. 6. There's a new setting, Default Input Folder, which does what it sounds 
  33. like it does.

  35. 7. There's another new setting, Merge Dragged Files. If this is checked, and you
  36. drag multiple files and/or folders onto the MailConverter icon,  the dragged
  37. items will be merged into one mailbox. If this is unchecked, each dragged item will
  38. have its own mailbox (ie, files will be handled as with Convert File, folders as with
  39. Merge Folder).  If you mark all files in some folder (cmd-A) and then drag the whole
  40. lot to MailConverter,  you will get functionality like Convert Folder if the Merge Dragged 
  41. Files is unchecked, and functionality like Merge Folder if it's checked. Clear?

  43. 8. The type/creator attributes for the output files are now resources, which 
  44. means you can change them if you want to with ResEdit. Eventually they'll be
  45. settings. The default output file type is still 'TEXT', the default 
  46. output file creator is still 'CSOm' (Eudora's signature). These two are 
  47. stored as STR#s in resource id 129 of the application.

  49. 9. MailConverter now handles BBN/MacEMail mailbox format. You should generally
  50. use Merge Folder for BBN/MacEMail, with a MacEMail mailbox folder as the
  51. input.

  53. 10. The Files menu has separator lines where it should.
